Atavism for Unreal – Engine Upgrade & Final Systems Polish
Following our last update, we are thrilled to report that the Atavism for Unreal project has moved into a decisive and exciting phase. We are continuing our steady march forward, and we want to be transparent about the significant technical leaps we have made recently.
Engine Upgrade: Now on Unreal Engine 5.6 A major milestone we have reached is the successful migration of the entire project to Unreal Engine 5.6. Note: We completed this extensive migration before the release of Unreal Engine 5.7. While 5.7 is now the absolute newest version, stabilizing the project on 5.6 allows us to leverage modern rendering and performance features while ensuring a stable development environment for the final stretch.
Current Status: Feature Complete & Heavy Testing With the engine upgrade in place, our primary focus has shifted from initial development to rigorous quality assurance. As detailed on our project progress page, the vast majority of our modules are now feature-complete.
We are currently in a phase of heavy testing. We are actively running through every system to identify edge cases and fix bugs, ensuring that Atavism for Unreal is not just a toolkit, but a production-ready foundation.
The following systems are fully implemented and undergoing final polish:
- Core Systems: Combat, Accounts, Character Management, and Items.
- Economy & Trade: Auction House, Trading, and Secure Inventory.
- Social & Guilds: Full Social systems, Guild management, and Mailing.
- World & Interaction: Quests, Dialogues, Resource Nodes, Interactive Objects, and a comprehensive Building System.
- Advanced Features: Arenas, Achievements, Rankings, Socketing, and Enchanting.
- UI & Tools: Minimap, Rest UI, Loading Screens, and the Admin Management Panel.
The Final Pieces: NavMesh & Education With the core architecture solid, our development team is concentrating on the final missing pieces required for a complete release:
- NavMesh Implementation: We are currently finalizing the navigation mesh solution, a critical component for AI movement and pathfinding in the Unreal environment.
- Documentation & Tutorials: We understand that a powerful tool is only as good as the knowledge available to use it. Parallel to our coding efforts, we are working extensively on comprehensive documentation and step-by-step tutorials. Our goal is to provide a full, complete solution out of the box so you can start creating immediately upon release.
